About Us

Mike and Nikki began dating in 2007 and dated for three years before getting married in 2010. As cliché as it may sound, it was love at first sight. We both grew up at the same part of town and went to the same schools growing up. Finally, in 2007 a couple of mutual friends without our knowledge made it possible for us to meet. From there everything just fell into place. Our marriage has been built upon a foundation of love + respect for one another. We genuinely enjoy each other’s company. Mike is loving, caring, enthusiastic, fun and full of life. Mike is always sought out by our friends as he tends to be the life of the party. He also has a very quiet + loving side that shows in the way he treats family, friends + acquaintances. Nikki is very loving, caring, family-oriented and self motivated. She is also a little spontaneous and likes to surprise Mike with little fishing trips or tickets to local activities. Nikki’s love for children is very strong as she has an early childhood background. She always has crafts + activities ready for our friends’ children and family when they visit.

Our home / Our pets

We have a two bedroom home in a smaller city. We are close to bigger cities with lots of activities including a zoo, parks, baseball fields, hockey rink and sports complexes. We like to attend a variety of activities.

We have two dogs. Milo is a nine pound yorkie/maltese mix. Otis is a seventy pound black lab/blue healer mix. Our pups love children and are very sweet and patient with them. They love walks and playing fetch.

Our extended family

Mike’s parents and Nikki’s mother live close by and we are all very close. Nikki’s father passed away a year ago. Mike has one sister and one brother. Nikki has one sister. We have three nieces and three nephews, one great-niece and many friends with children of all ages. We are also are godparents to two girls and a boy. We consider our close friends as family. We have many aunts and uncles along with cousins we stay very connected with.
What Led Us To Adoption
We would like to take a moment to explain a little more about our journey. We went through four years of fertility treatments with many failed attempts to conceive. Through IVF we did become pregnant twice, but both pregnancies ended too soon. Our first pregnancy ended halfway through due to our son having a rare bladder defect. We were devastated when the doctors told us his heart stopped beating after a procedure to try to help him. Nikki delivered our son and he was the most beautiful guy we had ever seen. Our second pregnancy ended in a six week miscarriage. We feel deep in our hearts that through all of our heartbreak and struggles with trying to complete our family that adoption just seems so natural.
